  • the nuts and bolts of a body in motion: posture anatomy, proper alignment, kinesiology, and biomechanics (asana)
  • the benefits and contradictions of key yoga movements (based on yoga's core principle of ahimsa, or 'doing no harm')
  • the practice and philosophy of breath training (pranayama)
  • how to improve concentration (dharana), focus (dhyana), develop powerful mind-body integration (samadhi), and free yourself from poor mental habits

AS A TEACHER TRAINING MODULE TOWARD 200 HR CERTIFICATION: This module will teach you the purposes of yoga postures for your body and how to personalize poses with modifications and advanced tips. By the end of the training you'll better understand what postures you need, when, and why, and how to break every posture and sequence down into its components to make them work for your clients' needs. Living Yoga (60hrs)

When: TBA FALL 2013

What most people understand of yoga begins and ends with what happens on their yoga mat. This module will focus on how to integrate yoga into your life through a deeper understanding of yoga's philosophy and full practice. We will discuss the Eight Limbs of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, look closely at biographies of yogis who make an impact in the world, and explore creative ways we can live our yoga so that we become more vibrant and inspirational. Prepare to evolve.

This module is an excellent introduction to the full Eight Limbs of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the founding philosophical text for yoga.
